Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, also called augmentation mammoplasty, involves surgical placement of an implant beneath the breast tissue to increase breast volume and enhance the shape.

Many women choose to have their breasts enlarged in order to satisfy their own desire for a fuller bust line. Your breasts may not have developed to a size that meets your expectations or one breast may be significantly smaller than the other. Often, after weight loss, child birth, or as a result of aging the breasts lose volume and their shape changes. Breast augmentation can often enhance your breast size and shape and give you the more proportioned figure you always wanted.

Dr. Anderson has over 25 years of combined experience with breast augmentation procedures. Dr. Anderson has extensive experience with both types of implants available. Saline filled implants that consist of a silicone shell filled with sterile salt water. Silicone gel filled were approved by the FDA in 2006 and are also an option. The pros and cons of each will be discussed during your consultation.

Individual factors and personal preference will help you and your plastic surgeon determine your appropriate breast size, the location of incisions and whether the implants will be placed on top of or under the chest muscle.

Every year, many thousands of women undergo successful breast augmentation surgery, experiencing no major problems and are pleased with the results. Anyone considering surgery should be aware of both the benefits and the risks. These risks and potential complications will be discussed on a personal basis with your doctor and a staff member.
