Q. Dr. Anderson, I'm interested in your Anderson Endoscopic Facelift. Another doctor told me that endoscopic surgery does not last as long. What is your experience in this regard?

I have over 10 years experience with over 1000 endoscopic facial surgery procedures and I know that my procedure does last at least as long as the older techniques if the proper technique is correctly done by an experienced surgeon. On the other hand, if the surgeon does not understand that technique and does not perform the technique properly the results may not last for that surgeon. The endoscopic facelift advantages include tiny incisions, almost invisible scars, less downtime, and less bruising in addtion to an improved overall result.

Be aware, however, that I often suggest and often do a traditional face and neck lift if I believe a better result can be obtained for that person. These procedures can also be done together when indicated to provide the most effective improvement.

Q. Dr. Anderson, I would like full and youthful lips. What is the best way to improve the appearance of my lips?

Lip Augmentation is one of my favorite subjects. We have done hundreds of patients and a variety of techniques.

Injectable fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® are effective and excellent for those who do not want to have surgery and do not want any downtime. Their main disadvantage is that they do not persist long-term. I do suggest a trial of an injectable such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® for one to see the result and the augmentation lip effect.

Implantable lip augmentation is done to provide longer lasting results. Currently my  favorite material is a soft silicone implant called Perma Lip Implants.  Click Here to learn more about Lip Enhancement.

Q. How do I pick a Plastic Surgeon?

As you consider having plastic surgery, one of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing your plastic surgeon. At Anderson Plastic Surgery, PLLC, we understand that, and we encourage you to make an informed decision. Check out the full credentials of your surgeon. Ask questions.

Make sure your surgeon is the following:

  • A Plastic Surgeon Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or in the progress of certification in Plastic Surgery

  • Certified in the procedure you are considering

  • Maintains surgical privileges at a nearby reputable hospital

  • Open and direct with you in answering your questions

  • Friendly and inspiring confidence

  • Willing to show you photos of actual patients

  • Experienced with at least five (5) years of training and practical experience

  • Respected by the medical community (has a good reputation)

  • Professional in demeanor, dress, and conduct

  • Represented by a professional and competent staff

  • Operating out of a professional office and work environment

  • Using the most modern equipment and techniques available

  • Many so called “Cosmetic Surgeons” lack proper training and are not qualified to perform plastic surgery.

Q. What do I need to know about my consultation?

Your Investment: When you come in for your personal consultation at Anderson Plastic Surgery, PLLC, plan to spend at least an hour and a half for your visit. The time you spend is an investment in you, and we want it to be a pleasant experience.

Reception: You'll be greeted by our receptionist who will ask you to complete some informational forms. During your brief wait, you'll get to enjoy our international art collection which adorns the walls of the waiting room. Some of the area's most famous painters are among the artworks displayed!

Your Personal Consultation: Next, you'll meet with Dr. Anderson and a staff member in a private consultation room, they will discuss your concerns and wishes. To help determine what the doctor can realistically achieve for you, he will have you explain what it is about your appearance that you want changed. He'll let you know what can be done realistically and he'll explain how it works. You'll have plenty of time to get your questions answered.

Photographs: In order to help Dr. Anderson plan for your surgery, photographs will be taken of the area under consideration. Following your surgery, additional photographs will be taken for the purpose of comparison. These photographs become part of your medical file.

Video Imaging: In many instances, patients have unrealistic expectations about what plastic surgery can do for them. For that reason, we may use the Video Imaging system as part of your consultation process.

Confidentiality and Consent: Under no circumstances are your photographs ever used without your written consent. Should Dr. Anderson be interested in using your photos for educational purposes, you will be formally asked for this consent. We stress that your entire visit and medical record are treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Q. What should I expect? What are the risks?

The objective of Anderson Plastic Surgery, PLLC is to improve your appearance through cosmetic surgery. We know that, with an improved look, often comes improved self-esteem and confidence. However, Dr. Anderson cautions patients that plastic surgery is not a magical cure-all. A new face will not necessarily give you a new life.

Dr. Anderson is committed to achieving a completely natural look for our patients. He works hard to understand our patients' needs and to create the results they desire. Sometimes, though, patients have unrealistic expectations about what they will look like after their surgery. For that reason, Dr. Anderson will discuss these expectations with you at length.

It is also important to know that not all patients are candidates for plastic surgery procedures. Results of your surgery depend not only on the skills of your surgeon, but also on your bone structure, the texture of your skin, your general health and your ability to heal. Dr. Anderson will take a full medical history as well as discuss with you any of these possible limiting factors.

Finally, there are inherent risks associated with any surgical undertaking. Many of these risks are considered minimal; however, Dr. Anderson and his staff will make you fully informed of what is involved in your procedure. To minimize risk, our practice employs only the most qualified medical professionals in every aspect of your care. All of our procedures are performed in the fully certified surgical facility at Anderson Plastic Surgery, PLLC or a Scottsdale Healthcare facility. This center features state-of-the-art equipment and insures that you are safe and comfortable at all times. Once you are released to home care, Dr. Anderson and his staff are available 24 hours a day, should you have questions or concerns regarding your recovery.

Q. What about anesthesia and recovery?

Most of our procedures are performed on an out-patient basis, in the office surgery suite at Anderson Plastic Surgery, PLLC. For this reason, we use "MAC" anesthesia, which is administered through IV sedation. Our patients report a no awareness and complete comfort but during their procedures. Recovery from the anesthesia usually takes about an hour. Patients are not allowed to drive themselves home following their procedures, so be sure to make arrangements for a ride home as well as some care for at least your first day at home.

Q. How do I pay for the procedure?

For the specific cost of the procedure you are considering, we encourage you to come in for a personal consultation. Every case is different and only Dr. Anderson knows for sure what your procedure(s) will entail. At the conclusion of your consultation, our office manager will discuss fees with you and will provide you a written estimate of the charges. It is our policy that all fees must be paid at least two weeks in advance of the actual surgery. VISA and MasterCard are accepted and financing is available. (See financing.) The fees for plastic surgery procedures are not inexpensive due to the surgical skills and equipment involved. However, these procedures are affordable. If you are calling a number of plastic surgeons to compare fees, remember that "what you pay for is what you get." Beware the surgeon who offers the lowest price. In addition to the procedure itself, you also pay for the anesthesia provider and the facility. If over-night care is involved, there is an additional fee.

Financing: When you are considering cosmetic surgery, we want your focus to be on you and your new image, not how you're going to pay for your procedure. For that reason, our office offers a convenient financing plan through Care Credit which is revolving credit, no annual fee, and a competitive interest rate. For more information on financing, call our Office Manager at (480) 860-9333.
